Unless you are just buying a steel or aluminum hood with a cheap CF overlay then all CF hoods come as a CF top with a fiberglass skeleton.

They are sturdy and do just fine but of you are worried about them popping up I suggest a hood pin set.

How did your metal hood pop up on you? did you forget to latch it or did the latch break?

A friend of mine had an issue of his CF hood bowing up at speed on the interstate. I'm really surprised the latch never broke. He got a set of Sparco hood pins and the problem has been solved.

I have a VIS hood...fitment could stand to be a little better, but the overall quality is excellent. I would definately go with hood pins just as insurance.

Vis is really the way to go with hoods. They have a good process when making their products. I've seen many other brands and there's quite a few issues with each:

- the hood is warped in the corners causing strange gaps
- the weave is damaged
- clear coat chipping
- weak latches
