warming up
my friend, w/ a 95 t/a, says that he heard from some ppl that letting ur car warm up, while in park or stationary, for too long builds carbon deposits...anybody know if this is true or how long i should warm my car up for...it's a 92 and i got into the habit of always using my remote starter...used to be in bitter cold chicago, now in weird weather la

in normal temps i like to let the car idle for 30 seconds or so just to get the oil circulating. then i don't get on it till it warms up to normal operating temps. in the cold i let it warm up a couple minutes, but anything more than 5 is just a waste of gas.
it was 4 degrees when i started my car this morning.....

mmm carbon deposits.. isnt that when u start ur car and let it warm up while indoor? u can smell it but is not a problem at all as long there is some air flowing , nothing better than warm up ur car especially n this freaking cold, 3F when i started it this morning. one thing i dont get is , why stupid ppl when they are warming up their car they step on the gas all the way to warm it up faster , for that just drive the damn car u doing the same damage.
