Windshield Replacement
I've got an '02 and a crack in the windshield I want replaced. If I go to a local auto glass store, can I have them install OEM (not OEM quality) glass? Or won't insurance companies go for that?

any windshield shop can order the Honda OE glass for you.
However, I have a PPG aftermarket windshield in my 00 coupe.
It matches perfectly, and since windshields get broken way too easy I'd save the extra hundred & pay for the PPG glass you won't regret it. Unless a 1"x1" Honda sticker means $175 extra bucks to you.

dunno anything about PPG, but PPG and Honda are your only 2 choices. Anything else and you'll probably get a crapload of windnoise like in my mom's 98 4runner after the replacement

There aren't many autoglass mfg. Even Honda just pays some other company like PPG to place their logo on the glass.
Any leaks or noise is caused by the installation being done poorly.
The installation is more important then the brand of glass.

Wind wisstle or noise is only caused by 2 things.
1. Positive cabin pressure air excaping out leaks in the window seal.
2. Improperly placed weather stripping around the window.
I'd take the Toyota back to the installer and ask for reapplication of the weather stripping. Have them ride with you to hear the noise if needed.
The windshield seals via glue/seam sealant to the cars frame.
So This is why it wouldn't leak water in, but could wistle. The plastic weather stripping is for looks and UV protection of the glue used to hold the glass inplace.
