I was thinking of getting a catback for my car, but I dont want that whole loud "sporty" sound. I know I cant get my accord (92 LX as well) to sound like a nice v6 or v8, but I want something somewhat sane as I can not stand some of these kids drivin around with the really loud, as my friends call it, 'fart cannon' or ricer sound exhausts. I was just looking for something that would get rid of my stock muffler with its 1.5 inch pipe. I am going to keep the cat for emissions reasons, but I think ill get a new header from ebay (one for 80 bucks). I know you guys say not to go cheap, but does it really matter for a header? Anyways, with a new header and catback, what kind of horsepower gain do you think I can get?

Also, is there anywhere i can go just to replace the pipes only? Cause my friend has a performance muffler he can give me that when it put on his pipe (just the back of his exhaust, with his other muffler on.. all stock, and he has a 2.2L truck engine) made the sound go much deeper, surprised us all. Only problem is its a universal muffler, and I would have trouble mounting it, is there anything that I can buy that would make a universal fit, without welding? I really liked the muffler too cause it had a black finish with no flashy tip. (I dont wanna show off anything i dont have, IE horsepower :P)

Thanks for any feedback,

Josh

I'd go with an Apexi WS cat-back as it isnt noisy and has a deep nice tone to it..describing just what you wanted. And with the header and catback, you prob wont gain much more than 8-10 hp...

Magnaflow muffler (not the canister ones), with stainless mandrel bent 2.25" (below 200hp), 2.5" (above 200hp) exhaust with 2 resonators , relatively quiet, realtively cheap, very high quality, very effective, etc, etc
