Ok, going to do a compleat front breat upgrade (will do the drum to disk later) Whats a good kit to use for an upgrade??


Want somethings good price, dont have to be for racing, just better then stock. has to fit the 15 in rim. steelbraid hose.



Any sugestions???

Do you want to keep the same hub over rotor design or do you wnat to changeover to the rotor over hub design? Also for you set up you would be fine with some brembo blanks, AEM or EBC greenstuff pads, and some SS lines

the way the 4th gen front brakes are now, the rotor is pressed between the hub and the bearing. You have to get it pressed off at a shop. To change the rotors, pads, and bearings at a reputable shop is 600 dollars. If you do the rotor over hub swap, the hub, and the bearing are pressed together, and rotor put on the outside(like most cars).

The only new parts you would need are:
99 acura cl 2.3 hubs and rotors
wheel bearings for your car
4 screws to hold the rotor to the hub assy.

That comes out to right around 275, and now you no longer have PIA brakes.

I ended up changing out:
rotors, hubs, bearings, tie rod ends, calipers, pads, master cylinder for around 450. (ebay is a great place!)

the rotors can very simply be changed by removing a few bolt and taking them off. they ARE NOT "pressed" on. "haveing them "pressed" on and off ruines the berings and in not the way they were designed to be installed.


I have changed my rotors many times (in my own driveway) with just simple hand tools.


I would like to convert to rotor over hub if it not to much of a pain in the butt. But to be honest, privce is my main concern.

 

well like I said, its only gonna cost the price of a hub and rotor from a 99 acura cl2.3. As long as you use that rotor/hub, you can use the same caliper, pad, bearing if its good. I would suggest doing it though. Much nicer!

 

Well, I need new calipers and that is that main reason for the upgrade. tired fo POS advance auto crap. and figured since I need to buy allnew stuff anyways. might as well get the good stuff.

Do you know of a "how-to"?

92 is a 4th gen right? if so, I need the same thing... when I break it shakes... my dumbass thought it was the abs... so I'm just going to replace the rotors/breaks... did you find anything yet?

 

If you guys just want some brembo blank rotors for you accords let me know cause i can get them for you

like aero posted, the rotors are NOT pressed onto the car, but unfortunately, it's bolted onto the back of the hub, which is pressed into the bearing. so you can loosen the 4 bolts all you want, but you won't be able to get the rotor out. UNLESS you take a hammer and pound the entire hub/bearings out from the rear of the knuckle. i've seen that done but i'm not sure how wise it is or safe. but it can be done without a press.
