my new fast/slow v6 accord
i just bought a 1998 v6 accord coupe and love it but it seems like it has a govenor on it, i can't get it past 110mph. what's the dileo? i like to keep things pretty stock so i don't come into too much trouble but i feel this car can do 140mph easily and i want to know how or what is holding it back. the honda dealership couldn't rap their little minds around the spiritual concept of 100mph+ and treated me like i was crazy:madfawk:

if you hit something at 140 mph you're screwed. (deer, rocks, small animal, another car, a person, etc...)

the v6's, coupes atleast, have a drag limit... no governor, just the cars have so much drag that with it's current engine, stock, isnt capable of going over like 145 or so. Also when you're wanting to go 140+mph... make sure you tires are OK with that... cause if you're on those shitty stock michelins, you sure as shit risk a blowout cause the tires arent made to go that fast.
Also the trannys in our cars are weak as shit... prolly one of the worst autos honda ever put out. So possibily your trannsimission is going out and is not allowing you to break 110 mph just beacause its so weak. And since your a 98, not a 00-02, you aren't covered by warranty. However most cases when your tranny starts going call honda of america and have a talk with them, usually they'll cover some or all of the cost of a replacement being installed. You'll have to cover labor though.

governor is higher than 110 rite...cuz mine's a 4th gen w/ 115...u know if u hit the governor...like ur car kinda lightly jerks and kinda feels like it bogs and loses power...but ya...watch out for ur tires...keep w/in a safe distance away from the rated speed...if u blow out 100+, then ur pretty much dead

The Accord is drag limited to about 130-135...I've had it to 138 but it took forever and it was on a downhill section of a Thruway chasing a Porsche. That story is around here somewhere. The car takes forever to accelerate from 110 onwards...mainly due to the 4 speed automatic. it ain't geared for high speeds.
