I've owned a 95 Accord LX auto for about 6 years now and thinking about upgrading. The biggest gripe about my car is that it is an auto and weak as hell. I was looking for a Prelude for a few months but they are way too overpriced and insurance is a b*tch. Now that I am going to live on my own it'll be harder on my budget so the Prelude deal is not really an option anymore.

So here I am thinking about getting a 01-02 EX coupe manual. I want a V6 for the hp, but I badly want to get a stick. I know it only has 150hp which is a little step up. Do you think that would satisfy the average owner that isn't crazy about speed but wouldn't mind a little kick from their engines? All info greatly appreciated!

 

I like mine. It's got enough to keep you happy if you get the manual. Its got plenty of power for me to get into trouble. you already have an accord so its just about the same as yours just a little newer looking. My mom has the same accord as I do but in an auto and there is a huge difference between our cars. Good luck with it.

 

I would rather have the 5-speed 4 cylinder.

 

:werd: 5spd I4s can keep up to auto V6s. Plus you won't have the risk of transmission problems, plus the front end is lighter, plus you can go turbo....

 

i like my V6. the engine is responsive and it's great for long drives. tranny issues only occured in 1 or 2 percent of all the Accords sold. just to be safe, shop for an 00 or 01. those had the drive train warranties extended to 100K by honda.

 

I love my 4 cylinder manual tranny. I have a 98 EX, and it has more than enough power. I got this car after driving a Nissan with a 1.8 liter 4 cylinder manual tranny at 127hp. There's definitely a difference - and it's fun.

 

plus youj can go over 250whp without the fear of a transmission meltdown and shouldnt have to put up with the loud CLUNK when going in reverse

 

I love my 2000 EX manny it rocks and yes it truly can keep up with those V6 Autos.

 

I'd go with the 5spd. It's quick enough if your just trying to have a little fun. Good luck on your search. It took me forever to find my 99 ex coupe 5spd. It seemed like all of them for sale were v6's.

 

If u take pleasure in driving than auto is out of the question for any car. I would never setlle for an auto no matter what the power. With that out of the way I have to say that the manual I have in my 01 i4 is unrefined. It performs well but the feel of the transmission is not smooth. The stick goes through gears with a grinding feel. My prior civic transmission felt a lot smoother than the accord.... If u are faced with the auto/manual problem than do get the manual since the car is very spirited with the manual.
