Default Want to add cassette to factory radio on 2003 Accord LX

I recently bought a 2003 Accord LX which came with the standard radio and single CD player. My wife likes to listen to books on tape in the car. (Many more books are available on tape than on CD.) I am looking to add a cassette player to the existing factory radio. Quality of sound not important as it will be used only for books on tape. Any ideas on how to accomplish this without spending the $350 (or so) that Honda wants for their player, which conveniently fits under the door beneath the radio?

Any help would be appreciated.

The other option would be to set up a tape player that has an earphone jack on it, run a direct line to the back of a sound card with a line in, and use some software to encode the input to WAV or MP3 files. Then of course, use you're favorite burning software to make them into CDs. Of course, that does require effort and some technical effort, but the CDs will last a lot longer than the tapes too.

Otherwise, you can order the OEM one from honda, or I'm sure if you keep your eyes on eBay, you'll run across one sooner or later!

Hope that helps,

- Nathan

You'll probably have to remove the cool CD Storage bin to hook the tape player up, but if thats worth it to you, then go ahead. Handa-accessories has the best prices for it, not sure if you need the mounting kit along with it, my guess is that you do...
