Default engine sound

I just got my 95 accord timing belt and waterpump changed along with all the other belts (alternator, powerstearing,ac compressor). It never made that sound untill my car got worked on.

now my car makes a wineding sound almost like a supercharger but not as loud. When I give my car some gas it get louder. anybody know what it would be?

My 96 Accord (with same engine) makes the same exact sound after all of the belts have been replaced. I too, did not notice it until after the timing belt, etc was replaced. I have no idea what causes it, but I've driven over 10,000 miles since the new belts were installed, and it has caused no problems. I read somewhere that it is pretty common. Although I have no substantial proof to back up this theory, I think it is caused by the greater tention of the brand new belts on the 'old' pulleys, causing them to emit that 'whine' Just my $0.02, perhaps the gear heads can be more elaborate.

No, it still sounds the same. I don't pay attention to it anymore, I turn up the radio and crank the AC...lol :-) I did start up a few other Accords with well over 100k (to ensure the belts were replaced) and they didnt sound like that...wich bothered me a little. But like I said, Ive put 10,000 miles on the car since, and it seems to be doing fine so far. Others have commented on the sound when I have everything off...they too say it sounds like a mini supercharger. I just call it whining.

did you do the timing and water pump yourself? There was a bolt missing on the tensioner. I put the bolt on there. did yours have the bolt on there? here a pic to help you out.
#17 is what I am talking about. the little arm piece.

Two of my Accords make that noise. I'm prtty sure its the timing belt cover thats slighly warped. COuld be wrong but thats the only explanation I could come up with.

I didnt do the timing belt service myself, although I did watch as my mechanic did it. I do not recall him bolting anything, nor do I remember if there was one there or not. Now I wish I paid a bit more attention. Another thought that someone brought up is that could be the alternator maybe. Apparently, they emit the same 'whine' when they are going out. But I don't think mine would have lasted this long (10k miles) if its been 'going bad' for that long...nor do I notice any symptoms of weak charging. I've had several mechanics listen to it, and they all scratch their heads. Most think its the tentioner...others say its the timing belt itself, or the drive belts.

i recently did a f22a > f20a swap. i did the timing belt & water pump, and there was no bolt in that hole on either engine. i called a local honda mechanic, and he said not to put one there. he didn't elaborate on why.

regardless, maybe you should lose the bolt.
