Ok,well like it says pound for pound(weight) dollar for dollar (money) would it cost just as much to build a 12 sec hatch or build another fiero..the fiero weighs 3082 and i dunno what the hatch weighs i could gut the whole the thing and make the hatch weigh 2200lbs but how much would it cost to build a 12sec hatch all motor hatch back im kinda scared to know how much it will cost. can you guys help me id like to show my friend with his trans am i can keep up with 1/2 the cylinders

No playground, as in it is not easy to make a Civic run 12's without a turbo or whatnot. Any engine that is strong enough to pull a 12 sec ET in a Civic will spin the tires if you let it, that's one of the downsides of a FWD.

there are a few options... but the easiest way is to build a b-series motor with forged internals and iron sleves, get a turbo, crank that bish up and tune accordingly. It is possible to get a hatch into the well into 12s N/A with b or h-series power, but it would take internal building (for higher compression and added strength), port matching and polishing, new valvetrain and cams, and god knows what else (I'm not particularly well-versed in the art of all-motor).
Either way, you'll be making lots of power, so slicks will be in order. Not a bad idea to upgrade your axles either.
