so i'd have to take the shock off to fix it?

 

Yes, you will need to take the shock out. I tried just loosening the nut on top of the bushing, jacking that side of the car up, and then tightening it again but that didn't help. It only takes about 30 mins to take it out, align, and put back in (that's with jack/hand tools).
