Default Engine Swap

Im thinkin about buyin a used 96-00 Civic coupe. They usually have a lot of miles on them so I was wondering if i didn't worry about miles and just got a new engine what kind should I get???

I looked at jdmhondaparts.com

If I were to get a Civic Type R engine where could I get add on parts (intake, supercharger, exhaust)

The Type-R engine is a little expensive, you could get just a non-R B16 or a B18 GSR engine for a lot cheaper. As far as parts, it will use most of the same bolton parts as the American 99-00 Honda Civic Si because it was a DOHC B16 engine in it to.

I highly recommend not getting the type R unless you don't want to modify it. For the same price you can get your hands on a GSR B18 and use the extra money saved to get other mods. Or even better a B18B non Vtec and turbo it.
hmmmmm...... T...U...R...B...OOOOOOOO.... psssshhhhh.

It all depends on if you want to go forced induction or all motor. If you think that you want to go turbo than a b18b will easilt fit your needs. Allmotor I would recammend b18c1gsr motor. A civic type r motor is a bit expensive. Save money on the motor itself and then use the rest of the money for upgrades.

Lots of places on the net sell engines. Most common are JDMHondaParts.com, HMotorsOnline.com, InlineFour.com, and JDMShit.com.

It should last forever as long as you take care of it like you would a regular engine and dont run the shit out of it. It's a Honda, it could possibly outlive you.

Most of the engines over the internet are out of cars from Japan. They aernt rebuilt but they usually average only around 25,000 miles. As long as you replace the timing belt and water pump to be on the safe side you should be just fine. You could always rebuild it with aftermarket pistons, etc. if you wanted.

But the B18 non-Vtec they are talking about I'm pretty sure is a US-only motor and you can usually find these at the same websites or in local import junkyards.

the GSR is a great platform for both going motor or FI in the future. I would say start with that motor.

You want, if at all possible, an LSD equipped tranny. Sometimes there hard to find!! A B16B is a Civic Type-R engine and are very rare and expensive. B18B is a non-vtec Integra engine I just got my B16B a week ago. The only reason I picked this engine over the B18C is that it's rare and I got the entire swap for a good price

GO WITH B18C. As stated a good engine N/A or with FI.
