I got my red/clears about 2 months ago and just useing the stock white bulb in the turn signal. I haven't had any problems at all in NJ. I also kept the stock bulb in my front clear signal. Since I have hyperwhites, the stock looks kinda like an old amber so its ok so far. I really wouldn't worry about your rear turn signals. If you don't want to use orange, how about yellow? That would be legal too.

I know in Jersey, for the rear lights, clear, red, and orange are acceptable. And PA is more relaxed then Jersey when it comes to car mods.

LEGALLY, you have to use red or amber (where I live).

I ran hyberwhites as turn signals for a while, but I'm back to amber now.

Having 'flashy' bulbs isn't worth having the cops harass you imo.

in NJ believe it or not.. there is a law that says you can not use ANY "non approved" equipment on your car.. so basicly it LOOKS LIKE anything without some kind of approval is illegal.. do they inforce this.. NO hardly ever.. but its there..

Correct me if I am wrong because I am not 100% on this, but I had heard that the 99-00 tails have some kind of refector behind the clear lens which is why they are legal. The aftermarket clear/red's for the 5th gens don't have that, and the turn signal isn't quite as visable.

Anyone know if this is correct? I know the turn signal on my clear/red tails with an orange bulb and not any where close to as visible as my stock red/amber tails.

According to the handbook for the Texas state inspection, the only colors that are legal on the back of a car are red, amber, and white (reverse only). I had the blue bulbs in my red/clear tail lights and they failed my inspection because of the blues in the reverse and turn signal lights. Some states or municipalities are more lax than others, so beware. If you get Two Toothed Bubba doing your inspection and he has a huge F150 lifted 30 feet off the ground with tires that would make Bigfoot look like a Hot Wheels car, then chances are he'd pass you. Good luck.
