Really the only option for people unwilling to put up with inconveniences is waranteed new cars.

Sorry guys, but what kind of mileage does your Honda get once you boost it? Not all that great. How reliable is it? Depends on how well it was tuned I guess. The only reason domestic cars have a reputation for being unreliable is because at some point they were poorly maintained, causing them to fall apart. I love my Civic and I loved my Corvette, but the stock Civic does get better mileage than a big V-8. If I wanted a fast car though, I woudn't mod my Civic, even if I wanted to drive a fast Civic. Instead I would keep the one I have for a driver and get a second one to mod, because once you go too far, the efficency and reliability go down the drain. DO NOT waste money on a Mustang though. For $35K you can get a used C5, which has more power than the Stang and handles better than any Civic on this forum (I would bet). In the end (after mods), a domestic with a large engine will be faster than any of our Civics. Look up the Lingenfelter Corvette if you want to see how fast a street legal domestic can go.

I wouldn't go that far there are some pretty competitive autox cars on this forum. CivicSiRacer beats C5s pretty regularly...

I've always thought the Lingenfelter Corvette was kinda a rip. $40g for a turbo kit? I bet you could build your own turbo C5 w/ similar performance for under 10g. It is a delicious idea though... twin turbo corvette, anyone? :naughty:

the Lingenfelter isn't a normal Vette engine. They put a race ready 427ci from the C5R with TT in there, as opposed to a NA 350ci LS6. They work on the suspension also, its not just a normal C5 with TT.

Damn! Civics that beat C5's? That must have taken alot of work! Props! (I wish my Civic could beat C5's) Are those street legal cars though?

Yeah, a lot of work goes into the Lingenfelter, but seems like too much $$$ to me :dunno:

I'm talking about autocross. CivicSiRacers car is just an Si w/ boltons, c/o's, shocks, and bushings. Regular old street car. There are at least a couple of civics here in Rocky Mt division soloII that consistently beat the c5, m3 crowd.

does the C5 come complete with gray hair and a desire to feel younger?

and i think the only thing an M3 has over a civic from my view is the styling....but you gotta pay for it :naughty:
