35k does seem like alot especially since you will most likely be beating on it. How bout 5k on a 94 gt mustang then 200 into gears then 4000 into supercharger and nitrous and then you will run close to 9's if tuned right. Thats not the way i would do it... i think i may rather have a ls-1 over a stang just if you like stangs that would be a faster stang for less around 10k or so.

EVERYONE I know is either selling their Civic or SOLD it already...

I guess there comes a time where you have to move on...

I went from a 70MachOne to a 92 TBI firebird with I/H/E 125shot, to a 00 3.8mustang to a vette to a civic. If you want something just for straight line, get something RWD or AWD. My next car will be RWD, but I will have this car for awhile since I like sleepers.

iono man, but your gas is gonna eat you like krazy.

the reason why people are choosing import over domestic is b/c the fact that imports are more easy to maintain and more relialble. i mean honestly, think about it, how much money would you have to spend to maintain your american car and compare that to the price of your import. its a BIG difference; unless you mod like krazy. plus gas. iono, but that's just my opinion.

but how reliable is your civic after you swap a engine then turbo it? or turbo your stock engine? prolly not as reliable as a v8 with na setup. plus v8's have been around long then the i4 there are some that get 300,000 miles on one. my old 83 mustang had 230,000 and still ran fine.

both domestics and imports can be made to go very fast and handle well. sure, domestics can be cheaper if u want to go fast (minus that $35k cobra guy b/c he just likes to waste his money). however, with japanese engineering, you get the comfort of quality, reliability, and good gas mileage. by the way, swapping a motor into a car or properly turbocharging it will not change its reliability. it's the quality of the craftsmanship of japanese vehicles that outshines american quality. reliability has nothing to do w/ how much power an import has if modded properly. domestics come unreliable out of the box due to lack of quality. and that's why they're inexpensive.

by the way, i'm not saying you should or shouldn't sell your car. i'm trying to sell my car too so i can buy an mr2 turbo or 240sx sometime in the future. i'm just trying to persuade you not to buy a domestic because of the headaches you'll get from it.

I've had plenty of reliability issues over the years from both japanese AND american cars. To say that all domestics are low quality and all japanese cars are reliable is very shortsighted. By far the most reliable car I've ever owned was a 1977 Olds 98 Regency 403ci 4bbl V8. Owning a car is inherently a pain in the ass, modifying a car is even more a pain in the ass... Really the only option for people unwilling to put up with inconveniences is waranteed new cars.
