why do you think it had to do with race? it's not like you have an inconspicuous car.

I dont know if you have this already but really dark tinted windows work well. Its a little odd to see someones face pressed against your window just to see whats inside If you see that, that persons got some balls. I would think that if people saw that it would get there attention, alot more attention then a alarm blareing IMO??

I have 5% tint (yes illegal) but before that i use to take off the face on my headunit, now i dont. Plus i have 2 alarms, i got the factory for starter kill and if doors, trunk, or hood is opened and a cheap alarm for broken windows.

Also just a tip try not to play the stereo loud in neigborhoods, i always turn my stereo down in neighborhoods, at lights and some parts or FL that im not use to driving in

I disagree with the hood pin switch being a waste. I'm no thief but I can pop open a hood that doesn't have a hood pin switch without setting off the alarm. Once a thief is in there, it's easy to disconnect the battery and unless someone has a backup, that's the end of that. It's really easy and that sucks.

It's just bad luck... don't worry too much... sh*t happens... and usually for reasons and most likely better things will come your way.

White_n_slow, sorry to hear about that. Whenever I install a stereo system in my car again, I'm going to make sure I keep nothing but CD-Rs in there. Also, things like detachable faces and the Club can only do their jobs if they're used. I learned the hard way but now I know.

agent87: If you set the sensitivity of the shock sensor high enough, there is no way you can get into the engine bay without setting off the alarm. And yes, you would be foolish to not use a backup battery.

civicsiracer: That is why your pager sys. worked so well. At that time clifford was the shit when it came to alarms. DEI however hasn't really come around with their pager sys. until they released the Viper 790XV and the clifford (nw owned by DIE) equiv. DEI, from what I remember, makes up the majority of all alarm sales in the US anymore, esp. if you go to circuit city, best buy, or tweeter. I've even seen alot of the local tuner shops sell nothing but (they're about the cream of the crop anymore). That's why I recomend staying away from the stand alone pager sys. for the DEIs. That just comes from exp. And take it from me, cuz I've sold and installed some $1000+ alarm systems from DEI and I have nothing but customer feed back to go on.

Shitbox: just go out and get an alarm. granted it's not going to be a 100% guarantee that you're car won't be broken into, but you'll get 2 benefits. 1.) You'll have that piece of mind that your car is "protected". and B.) If you tell and prove to your insurance company that you have an alarm sys. they usually cut your ins. cost by 10%. ......food for thought

UPDATE:

Thanks for the ideas and incouragement, I haven't had time to read it all though...

Turns out my neighbor's car was broken into too... the popo came to take prints on his, but didn't get any. I saw them out front and asked them to print mine too (they were two hot femcops :naughty: ) and they got hella prints on the passenger window, which is good. So basically, if they have this guy's prints on file, he's nailed. If not, then :dunno:

thanks again!
