im pretty sure civics can tow ~1000lbs from the factory. the # is reduced ALOT once you lower. i remember readin the eibach documentation and it says that you should NEVER tow once youre lowered. i have gc coils, and i would never tow. i'd trust some normal springs tho. the trailer hitch should bolt into the frame, so you should be able to unbolt it any time

one thing to consider when towing anything with a small car/small engine is your clutch. a factory clutch might slip a lot when an external load is put on the chassis...not sure if an aftermarket clutch would help, but I assume that the added clamping power would be beneficial for towing...
that said, even though you car has 163,000 on the clock, your g/f clutch might wear out quicker that yours so your car might be the more practical choice if you were to pick between the two civics.
