Never done axle work, don't know much about em. How does the half shaft work??? I need to replace the drivers side axle on my civic. I swapped a b16A2 into my 95 civic... let me know!

Still here... sorta...
The half shaft is an axle shaft that connects to the tranny and then has a mount that bolts to the back of the motor. At the mount, the axle connects to the half shaft.
It's pretty hard to explain without showing you a pic. I looked at google, but didn't see anything...

I took my drivers side B series axle out today and the universal joint closest to the motor was shot. Not sure what they are called, but the bearing pieces that slide onto the knobs on the end of the axle just started literally falling out and chewed up the housing for the U-joint. If I take everything from that housing with the U-joint, is that all I need to replace? I saw the half shaft was in good shape...

Buy a rebuilt axle. They cost like $50.
And they aren't universal joints ("U-joint,") they are constant velocity joints ("CV joint"). They do basicaly the same thing, but are two different designs.

By the way, does anyone need some used D16 axles??? I have em if ya want em... Along with any other part from a D16Z motor.... Tranny, clutch, you name it, I got it... The motor is seized up, but fixable... head is in good shape and the intake manifold, throttle body, all that is good.. Have a header to go along with it... the rear flange was cut off when I had the flex pipe welded on, but it's useable...
