Default Bye Bye Power Steering

I got up one day and looked at the CTR N1 crank pulley sitting in my room for over a year. And decided it was time for it to go on.

This last Sunday I removed the only thing keeping the CTR pulley from going on, and that's the power steering. I removed all of it, and tried to block up the lines. I left a little too much fluid in the rack so everytime I turn the wheel it squirts out power steering fluid.

I've had a manual racking sitting in my house for a good 8 months now, so I went and bought new tie rod ends and a new D bracket. I'm gonna see if either prothane or ES make a manual steering rack bushing, they have'em for the power steering rack but maybe not the manual rack.

I'm gonna try to swap the racks this saturday with the engine in the car. I'm really not looking forward to it, but 1stgencrxer says he's down with helping me on it, so I'm hoping it'll go quickly and painlessly.

I can probably get a temporary fix, but I wanna do it the right way and swap the racks.

I may take some pix, but I'll probably do a write up on it. I'll be too dirty for pix.

Better throttle response. Its like a flywheel, it doesnt add power but improves acceleration.

it's oem fit and quality. no place for ac or power steering... not as light as the unorthodox piece. txhatch pretty much hit it on the head.

FYI the manual rack doesnt mount up the same as the auto rack i had to leav a bolt out cause the mounting brackets on the sub frame are different but i have had mine that way for 5 months now and have no problems and i do run my car hard from time to time.

ps be really careful when you disconnect and reconnect the steering column so as to not **** up your srs like i did but i happen to have the piece i broke laying around so the srs light went away once i replaced it.

i'm running a momo wheel so the srs has already been removed.
as for the manual rack not mounting up. a few of my friends have done the swap and everything bolted up. and a couple guys on the web who did the swap said it bolted up fine...
we'll find out.

-eh. Id rather go with a non-powered teg power rack than a civic manual rack. The civic manual rack is pretty sloppy with a wide-ass steering ratio. JMO, I wouldn't mind cranking harder.

Good luck, hope it all goes smoothly.

Man, I need to change out my rack and pinion... that thing is a Pain in the neck, and I don't think I want to begin to tackle that myself But it's a costly job.

That's a nice upgrade too
