Default Mini-sol Dash lights

Hey everyone,

I have a question about that little mini-sol just above the clock on the dash - how many warning lights are associated with it? The only two I've ever seen are the horizontal red line for when the roof isn't totally secured, and the vertical green line for when the back window is down. Are there any others?

No that's not it, there's another one to indicate an open trunk. THATS it.

Green window light, red roof light, red trunk light.

hmmmmmm...since 94's didn't have the remote trunk release, I don't think I've ever been in the car when the trunk was open... I'll try that right now, though. Thanks!

Btw, it's such a wasted opportunity, isn't it? I mean, they could have a little light in the engine area light up when VTEC engages...or lights in the wheel areas for ABS-equipped cars, when ABS engages....etc. etc. etc. So much potential, so little implementation.

Ya, at the least, they could've put another light in for an open hood, just for the sake of completeness.

What would've also been cool would be little glowing head/tail lights.
I remember someone did it on AutomotiveTech.org, but it seems like a lot of work...

Yeah, I've thought about making my own lights for a long time now... but for the amount of work involved, and owing to the fact that 1) only other Sol owners would care, besides myself 2) my electrical know-how is somehow limited 3) I just don't have the time to tear apart the dash... I haven't done it.

I think making a VTEC light would be pretty simple. Once you remove the mini-sol/clock cluster, you could just cut out a slot where you want the light and then use the normal VTEC-light-installation instructions. But I'm not at all sure about headlights, etc. That's about where my daring ends...

But then again, I'm one of those people who yearn for the old days of 100,000,000 dials, gauges and instrument readouts ...everything from oil pressure to oil temp to water temp to ...you name it. I get seriously antsy when I'm driving a car without a tach.

But maybe I will tackle it one day. It sounds like something which other Sol owners might be interested in. I'll check out AutomotiveTech.org, too, and see what they have.

Well I've thought about doing the mini-head/tail lights mod...I know I can do it, but it's a lot easier to do in my head than in reality.

Drill holes in mini-headlights and mini-tails, wire up LEDs behind the holes to the headlight relay so when your lights are on the mini-Sol's are too...but that's a lot of physical effort to put into such a tiny thing, that like you said, only fellow Sol drivers would care about.

I'll prolly end up doing it, since I am a total sucker for little light-up dealies like that.
