Default Energy Suspension Master Kit

Alright I'm going to be installing mine once the rest of my suspension parts come in.
I know some people on here have installed there kits themselves, Bumnah for one. I'm looking for any tips you might have to give me when it comes to removing and installing the bushings.

I did my own too.

I've heard that you should soak all the bushings in penetrating grease for a day or so before you install them.. that way they won't make noise when they're in. Not sure though...

You do need to use a lot of the Lithium grease they include.

I also HIGHLY recommend that you find or have use of a press. It makes this job 1000x easier.

Here's the way I did mine. We used a press (but you could probably be creative and figure out way) to push the center bushing out (the sleeve the bolt goes through). We then hacked and slashed some of the rubber way till we could see a piece of the metal outer bushing collar. We then took a hacksaw apart, put the blade through the bushing and tightened it back down and then cut a slice out of the bushing (be very careful you don't cut into the actual control arm). Once it was cut, you can just hammer it out with a screwdriver (all the pressures off). To push the new bushings in, just grease the hell out of everything and squeeze them in with a vice.

For the rear's we got smart. We measured the diameter of the outer sleeve and then used a lathe to cut down a piece of brass (very soft) to the same diameter. We then just pushed the bushings out with the brass. Makes some scary cracking noises but the brass is so soft it didn't damage the arm just finally shoved the bushing out. You need a press to do it that way though.

Also, the big front rear bushing is a pain. We used a bandsaw to cut one full side out of the bushing and push it through the other side. Could probably be done with a sawzal or even a hacksaw but made it very easy. The new one's a huge pain to get in, but it will go (just awkward to get both pieces into a vice).

The ES kit also comes with poly balljoint boots. Throw them in the garbage. If your stock boots need replaced, go get new rubber boots that have a retainer clip. The ES one's just slide on have nothing to hold them in place. The stock boots have a round metal clip that holds them in place around the base of the big end. I don't know why ES includes those either, I don't see the poly doing any good there? Oh well, good luck with it.

All I can say is, the 4" 3 jaw press and I became very close during bushing removal.
