18secFerio, let me know when you plan to swap, and what you plan to swap in, and I can knock it out for a small price if it's a basic b series swap or d seriesm (no H22's or LSVTEC's for me, too much wiring crap). At this point I have done three engine transplants into my coupe and one into my CRX so I'm getting pretty good. The CRX was the bitch of them all. And the turbo kit into the RSX was a biaaatch. Right now I'm having my old D16Z6 rebuilt by a friend of mine. All this talk of fast d series engines lately has given me the urge. I will turbo charge it and slap it into a 5th gen hatch. I have been eying a few for sale lately so let me know if you see anything around town that you think I'd be interested in.

I own a y7. I've done research on the engine. It is i n fact weaker than the y8. they are NOT the same motor. Don't talk about things you don't know.

if you weren't a retarded dumbass who didn't read threads through before you posted, then you would have read that:

1) y7s and y8s are not the same
2) he is not using boost
3) he has an auto matched with it

next time you post, post something relivant and intelligent.
Here's something relative AND intellegent, Mr. Smart-Ass. Check these engine specs out and tell me what the BIG DIFFERENCE is.

ENGINE HP SIZE DECK BORE STRK ROD C-H PIN H-D BEW BEB R/S VA VS D-S V-N MODEL
D16Y8 127 1590 8.347 2.953 3.543 5.394 1.154 19 32.8 .892 48 1.52 30/26 S-V 96-99 CIVIC
D16Y7 106 1590 8.347 2.953 3.543 5.394 1.181 19 34.6 .892 48 1.52 30/26 S-N 96-99 VARIOUS

ENGINE = engine code
HP = factory horsepower rating
SIZE = engine size in c.c. cubic centimeters
BOR = standard engine bore in inches
STRK = engine stroke in inches
ROD = engine rod length center to center in inches
C-H = compression height of piston in inches
PIN = wrist pin outside diameter in millimeters
H-D = cylinder head volume in c.c. cubic centimeters
BEW = connecting rod big end width in inches
BEB = connecting rod big end housing bore diameter
D = double overhead cam
S = single overhead cam
N = non v-tec
V = v-tec 1 millimeter = .03937 inches
DECK= deck height in inches
R/S= rod to stroke ratio
VA= valve angles in degrees
VS= valve sizes intake/exhaust diameter in millimeters

I don't see a really big difference, so why don't you break it down for me?

I beleive the head is made out of a different (ie, weaker) material.

But we weren't talking about the head. I said the Y7 and Y8 are basically the same except for the head and the intake manfiold, then you proceeded to flame away.

Maybe it just wasn't your day.....that's cool though, I've been there.

I really don't ****ing care. this thread was made so I can discredit a guy whom I know is a ****ing moron. I shouldn't have even posted it in the first place.

but I don't see a point in putting a y8 head on a y7 block. I rather just have the whole y8

That's cool and I agree on swapping the Y8 out. It's just as time consuming as swapping the head....

Enough from me, have a good one!
