I personally wouldn't tint myself... or trust anyone but a shop to do it. My tint turned out beautifully (until someone tried to break into my car right after I got the windows tinted)... I went to a local window tinting place for it. The only thing I didn't like was that they stuck a sticker on my back window..... that doesn't wanna come off... >.<

Not sure what CivicDXR used but I know RiceBurningVTEC used Nightshades tint that he bought from Summit Racing. Not sure on the price so check their site.
I knwo when RiceBurnin sees this he'll chime in, hopefully with pics too.

Night Shades spray tint is the way to go. Make sure you clean the lights, lightly sand and then spray with ting-- follow up with a coat of clear coat and you will be ok.

not even sure... I bought my car brand new in 96 and these were the stock honda wheels that were on them... if i remember correctly, at the time a bought it, the wheels were on there as a promo for all DX's that came that month... I only know of about 3 sets in the city... they are some pretty light 13" alloys, they were silver with a polished face (kinda like how the GSR blades/swirleys were)... as of now, they are gunmetal and have my winter tires on them...

as for the tint, everyone is right in saying that the VHT Nightshades Taillight Tint Spray is what I used...

where do you get the this Nightshade stuff and is it easy to get a nice consistent coat of it, like no runs or lightspots or line or anything?

I used Testors spray tint (transparent black). It does the job, but the problem is that you have to be really patient using this brand. If you tend to rush it, applying too many coats too quickly makes it runny. So you have to literally wait until it's completely dry before applying another coat. This tint is available the same place you get the Transparent Candy Apple Red.

hey i was wondering what grit sand paper you used to sand it down... how many passes did you make? do you think it will look okay if i went over the amber part on my 97 hatchback tail lights? did you follow up with a clear coat?

Sanding is not necessary. Just clean the lens really well and make sure that it's free from wax, dirt, debris, etc...
