Default Cleaning off the tires

I use Tire wet gel for my tires and over time, they gunked up. I acutally had to scrape off the crap and then used the new simple green automotive to finish it off. When i went to clean the tires the next time, I just used simple green and the gunk would dissolve. I used a nylon brush and that got filled with gunk. What is the best way to remove old tire wet so the next application will stick???? Thanks.

Thanks for the recommendations for the tire gels, but what do you guys use to clean the tires before you apply the gel/ spray?
Thanks

I guess this would be the only time that I would use dishwashing soap is to clean off my tires. But then it's rare that I get that much dirt that I have to use a brush or something. Just make sure that if you do use a brush to get most of the dirt off your tires that you don't hit the wheels (taken that you do have wheels).

Yeah I am getting a set of rims really soon for my b-day. Should I go with 15 or 16's?

First off, most Petroleum based protectants like tire wet will ruin your tires over time. Ther are chemicals built into the tire to protect them and the petroleum based protectants eat up those chemicals. I never understood the whole shiny tires thing. Mine look just fine after aa scrub brushing with turtle wax car wash. Though there are several protectants such ass meguires that are safe. read the bottles fella's. also try reading the paperwork that comes with your tires. Most tire places won't replace under warranty if the sidewalls crack due to teh protectant you use.

If you're planning on going for just speed, a lightweight 15" would be optimal. If you're going for the "show" route and planning on getting a kit, then 16's would probably be best.

Thanks for the info RedCivic. I tried looking for Meguirs tire shine at my local pep boys, but they didn't have it. Do you know where I could get that?
