Weird noise on start up
Over the past 2 months, when my car has been sitting over night, I go to fire it up in the morning and there is a short (1/2 sec) squeal the second it turns over. It doesn't do it any other time other than that, and it doesn't do it when I shift either. Can you guys help me out?
Could this be the alternator belt? If it is, do I need to replace it or just spray something on it? -Mindi

either the alternator belt or when was your timing belt changed? If it was changed recently, and isnt fully broken in yet, if you let the car sit for a length of time it may do that..... but sounds more like its one of the exterior accessory belts, if your power steering or alternator belt are too loose it will do that, check the tension on them..... thats my first guess is that its one of those belts....

I dont know if it would be the timing belt, they usually dont give too many symptoms before they go out, and it is inside the valve/timing cover so if it was making a noise it would have to be loud to hear it, my guess is the accessory belts, take a look if they are too loose, mine was doing the same exact thing you are describing when they were loose
