i personally dont see any problem with a 16 year old(like myself) having a nice car. i have a 2000 civic si, and im hooking it up, all with my money. I in no way think i am as good of a driver as you seasoned vets, but probably better than 90% of the non-enthusiast community. I believe simply driving a car with a standard transmision makes you, not only more in tune with your car but also with the road. I have avoided 2 near accidents where hicks in their big trucks have come over into my lane, nearly hitting me. As far as the original post concerns, go with an si engine, i think that would be the easiest thing to do. but what the F do i know? im a damn kid

im not bashing old people
word, some old lady was driving on the wrong side of the road one time and i had to swerve.. scariest thing that's ever happened to me..

but yeah.. right when you get your license you will definately start driving crazy.. it happened to me, happened to all my friends as well.. since you have the freedom to drive alone, you're gonna start testing the limits.. i remember me n my friends drove like maniacs on the freeway, such an adrenaline rush but very dangerous.. after less than a year or so the excitement of driving wears away, so just wait maybe 6 months or so after u get ur license b4 making ur car fast

as for the swap.. i think you should swap a B18B.. LS/RS/GS integra motor.. it's only a tad bit slower than the B16A, has more displacement, and a smoother powerband (non vtec).. it's cheaper than a B16A by far as well.. i wouldn't get any TypeR motor unless you get a phat hookup.. they're mainly just to show off their rarity, not really worthwhile.. w/ a B18B and a mild turbo kit you would smoke a civic w/ a TypeR motor in it.. and the total cost will be almost the same

id go for a b18c5 swap, since they have high power stock.. And there is a lot of tuning parts for b18's! You are going to pay a lil more, but its better for u..

I am 16 and have had my licence for 7 months. I have no experience, right?

Two months after getting my licence, I was getting used to my normal route of going to school. I have to turn left on our 6 lane road. The left turn light turned green, so I began to go. Some dumbshit thought that since we were moving, that he had a green light, too. He guns it, and I have to brake and turn to avoid nailing him. The person beside me, who looked to be in her late thirties, didn't do quite so well. She rammed her 525i right into the side of his car.

I will agree that most 16 year olds drive like shit. I won't deny that I drive a little crazy some times, too. But, the difference is, I do it in places where no body is there to get hurt so that the only person I am endangering is myself.
