Default So you have rust - prevention?

I have some rust in the rear wheel well that has formed. I realize that the rust will spread, but i just wanted to know what I cna do to slow the spread of rust.

I wax my car with meguiars - and i've given it a strong coating in these areas to help deal with the rust. will that help at all?

i would think it would help...

one easy way to help prevent rust on the rear wheel wells is to remove that black lining thing that runs along it....just rip it off. crap gets trapped under there and causes the rust...

use rust remover to expose bare metal then use primer (which i did look at my sig pic) or use a rust preventing paint

im not sure if my 5th gen coupe has that down there. also, my car has 130K of mileage in salt-covered upstate NY so im sure its already taken a beating and it might be too late for some spots..

how does the rust remover stuff work? does it remove my current layer of paint?

well if your rusted the bare metal is exposed so just apply it to the rusted areas ( get as close as you can to the good paint ) and the rust will be totally gone and to prevent the metal from rusting again you need to put sum type of protecton on it
