Default Opinion: Buy or Keep?

Not sure what kind of responses that I might get from this question but I am looking for some opinions. I have a '99 si with the usual bolt ons: aem cai, apexi n1, dc 4-1 header, short shifter, aem pulleys, magnacor wires, denso irridium plugs, eibach springs, powerslot rotors, aem pads, axis se7en wheels. Anyway, now I want to upgrade the cams, gears, clutch...etc. I am pretty sure that I want to put type r cams and other type r components in also. I was thinking about just selling my si and trying to buy a usdm type r since it is standard with everything i am trying to put into my b16. Any thoughts on what I should Do????

People who have ITR's are greedy. They try to sell them for way more than they are worth. Also, your car already has a ton of stuff on it, why go back just for cams? You can get the cams for about 500 total. The work is easy, get some gears and spend 100 on tuning....

I'm in the same boat as you except I've already spent a lot of cash on Skunk2 Stage 1 cams, cam gears, VAFC, and dyno time. After all that money and time to install, I'm at 154 whp, barely over what a stock GSR puts out. The orque on our Si's suck, too. I'm starting to think that I should take all the aftermerket stuff out, sell the Si, and start over with either a GSR or Type R (1st choice of course). Most of my engine parts are interchangeable, so no real money lost...

Hind sight is 20/20 as I should have bought a GSR to begin with but was hesitant due to $400 more per year for insurance on the GSR over the Si.

Oh well.... Enough of my rant.....

I would keep the Si. Judging by your mods so far, you're obviously well on your way. And most mods make your car less valuable to Joe Consumer, so you'd be pretty unlikely to get back what you put into it. Plus, the used car market is a bitch. Its such a pain in the ass to sell a car for what its worth to you and to find a car thats just right . Make it easier on yourself... just keep the car you got. *

*my two cents

Thanks for all the replies so far. If I keep it I am definately going to get cams, cam gears, valvesprings, retainers, clutch and motor mounts right away. i have a brand new vafc still in the box that i got over a year ago, so i will need to put that in as well. My problem also is that i do not know of a good reliable tuning shop near me. I installed most of whats on my car but I am not capable of doing this stuff. Anyway thanks for all the input.

Go with a built b18c1 block. Look at it this way, you can sell a b16 shorty for about $450. You can buy a GSR shorty for about $700 or less if it's not complete. CTR pistons $300, .25mm over $300. Rebuild cost if you do it yourself, $500.

All in all, you'll spend about $1500 on a GSR block that is fully rebuilt and you will hit over 185whp w/ skunk2 stage 1 cams and tuning along with a good header and exhaust. Combine that with an Si tranny and your in business.

integras and civics are different cars in terms of feel and comfort, drive a ITR or a GSR and you'll know what i mean.

If you get a integra you get a higher insurance quote though, believe you me, but i made my decision

but then i got a civic hatch to work on, although i never do
