my guess, you have a bad valve or two. Your head will need rebuilt most likely. Thats what it sounds like to me at least. have a compression check done
First, like you said, replace plugs and wires and dist cap, if you really don't notice a difference, keep them anyway, they should be replaced every so often anyway, it's regular mainanance. But, if you don't notice a pickup, and you're still running rich after those replacements, have a compression check done. You may either have a bad head (vavle bent/broken) or your head gastket is kaput, although i don't think that this is the problem.
