Is there any help for the "D" series 5spd trannies? I am on my second in 30k! 3rd gear sucks!!!!! Any performance upgrades for this tranny?

And yes I know my "D" sucks! I am saving for a swap!

I have a D series tranny, when I bought it I found out that the synchro was bad when going into 3rd gear when the revs are high, I'd rather get a engine/tranny swap then fixing it.

Amen, brother. My D16 Civic is the fastest FWD car in town right now. 14.012 @ 100.5 MPH @ 8psi. It's not that fast, but I'm doing the safety upgrades (radiator, fan, clutch, fuel pump) so I can push more boost and be in the 13's without blowing up!

 

3rd gear always grinds, but what are you doing to be on your 2nd tranny in 30k?

 

nice...i'm about the same, i just need to get tuned. I ran a 14.1 @ 99 last night with a fmu setup. Which fuel setup are you using, AFC hack?

D16 trannys do usually have some weakball 2nd and 3rd gear synchros, it just depends on if you get one in good shape. At least they're cheap!

 

My third gear grinds at high RPM's too. Anyone know how much it would cost to have the synchros fixed?

 

I got quoted around $400, because you have to drop the tranny. Don't know if that is a good price or not.
