not everyone knows how to take apart a tranny and fix it, it's not a very simple system. Also not all trannys are fixable in every case, go try and tell my friend who blew a baseball size hole in his casing to fix it himself...

I agree that ppl should do some of their own work on their cars but taking apart a tranny is not a DIY boltin job, you need to cool it and STFU or get off this board

there are several service bulletins on the d16 tranny because it IS a piece of crap, syncros ground on mine since the 2nd day i owned it, at first i thought it was poor shifting, but there is serious issue with some part that seems to wear way too fast.

id say, get two and learn to rebuild them, and take it easy till your new motor is installed. the tranny works good if you shift like grandma, which is who these cars were built for.

bah...u gotta pay to play. I've had 2 d16 trannys blow up on me, well the first one was due to negligent driving of my friend, 2nd one was a faulty 2nd gear synchro. I'm on my 3rd one now with an ACT clutch, we'll see how it holds up to some drag radials. The motor itself is pretty good, mine has seen a 55 shot of nitrous, 10 psi boost, nearly hydrolocked, ran down to 2.5 quarts of oil and still survived *fingers crossed* Hoping to pickup a LS motor this summer.

honda motors are bulletproof...tranny's on the other hand...hmm, perhaps the swiss watch makers should assist.

wtf are you talking about...honda B series trannys are pretty strong, the motors are weak. Try and boost any stock honda motor to a bar and see what happens. They are mostly pretty high compression, open deck design and are just not generally designed for boost.

Nissan people always say how they wished their trannys were as beefy as hondas, however their motors can take 400 whp on the stock block i.e. SR20DE's and SR20DET's. The maximas VQ motors are also pretty hefty too, the turbo maxima people out there are putting down 340+ whp numbers on 6 psi.
