I got quoted around $400, because you have to drop the tranny. Don't know if that is a good price or not.
a tranny swap around here usually costs about 250 including flywheel resurfacing. 400 sounds way too high, and there is pretty much no way to work on or replace a tranny except to drop it.

At that time, I was just running the blue box with stock injectors. Now I have the V-AFC and RC 440s. I should be able to turn it up very nicely!

damn that's crazy...not street tires though right? With a 99 trap and a 13.7 you would have to hit a 2.0 60 foot or better. I also just got an AFC and am gonna run the hack. Any idea if u can run the AFC hack with some RC310s?

Cashis EG8 -

I have no idea! When I replaced the "stock" (if it was the original tranny) with a 98 si tranny (supposedly 40K on it) there were no grinds. A month later it was grinding pretty good almost every time I shifted to third. Only when I was torqing on it though. When I drove like crucial and let the tach drop before shifting into third it didn't grind. Then it started to whine, hum, whistle in all gears. I swapped it with another $200 si tranny and less than two weeks later it is grinding going into third again.

I know it's not the way I am driving. I have had quite a few sports cars. 5.0, Talon TSI, Z-turbo, Rx7 turbo2. The old slivic just can't take it I guess! It just really sucks that it takes a $3000 engine swap to make these cars fast and reliable!

I ran that on 13" radials that came with the car when we bought it.

lies...a 1500 dollar turbo kit would be just as reliable and quick as a 3000 dollar swap. I have yet to lose to a swapped car that wasn't on FI

I didn't mean drag radials, just normal street tires. Uniroyal, I think....
