Default Fuel Pressure

I have a B&M fuel pressure regulator and a fuel pressure gauge set at 45psi. I noticed on several occasions the pressure automatically increases to 46psi. Can someone tell me the cause of the increase? Also, whenever this happens there is a loss of top speed.

Outxider, thanks for your response. I made an error. It is 35psi at idle. It frequently increases to 36psi. What could be the cause?

stan is it 35psi with vacuum on or off? ( hose on the regulator or off?) mine probaby isn't the same since i have a d16a6 but mine is at 39psi when hose is off the regulator.... if yours is 35 when hose is on the reg. then when its off you'll be around 45psi, which is too high..you'll be loosing hp instead of gaining it. i set mine up to about 42 psi with hose off and i noticed i was running a little rich and loosing top end badly like you said..

check all ur vacumn lines for any signs of wear and tear. check ur fuel filter. check ur iac valve. these could lead up to ur prob of leapin idle. yeah u r runnin mad rich. check that out immediately.

ZiviCase10287, it is 35psi with the vacuum on. At 35psi the car run very good. However, the pressure keeps increasing automatically. Do you think I should change the regulator?

I have tried the stock regulator several times but the performance was not good. I am going to assemble another regulator and see what happens. Thanks for your help.
