Default Major transmission problems...

I have a '97 HX which has been having issues lately. I just found out that it's the transmission, and I'll need to get it replaced or rebuilt. What are my choices? Are there places online to buy them, or should I have mine rebuilt? Also, do I have choices as far as upgrades go?

used d-series trannys are usually pretty cheap..... try picking up a d16z6 or y8 tranny... they have the lowest gears if im not mistaken

My D16Y8 tranny had shot bearings so i took the battle axe approach and replaced the entire tranny. I went this route since rebuilding takes time and is not cheap. The tranny swap was pretty straightforward and I swapped the clutch/throw-out bearing/etc all at the same time. A few hours is better than not having your car for a week if not longer.

Check various Honda forums, thepartstrader.com, and salvage yards. I got a same year Y8 tranny with same miles for only $200 w/90-day warranty.
