Default vtec solenoid

I'm thinking about buying a vtec head and doing a mini me swap but a head that I found doesnt come with a vtec solenoid..what exactly is this and can I use one from a different year(the head im getting is from a 94, can I use a 2000 vtec solenoid with the same engine? and how much does it usually cost?

Also the guy thats selling one said it comes with bare intake manifold and valve cover, will I be able to do a successful swap into a D15 motor?

Also, if I'm just getting the head I dont need to swap out any of my other DX parts? Like the manifolds or anything

solenoid, controls VTEC on/off.
I'm guessing OBD-1 can't work with OBD-2, so no you can't use from a different year. not 100% sure.
Cost :dunno:
