Default hood pins really neccessary?

i know that it's said they're for safety reasons, but do you really think they're neccessary since i won't ever be going more than freeway speeds (for the most part)?

I would get them on a CF hood just in case. I've heard of few stories of people having their CF and fiberglass hoods flip up and crack their windshield on the freeways.

Depends on the hood. Some hoods have better latches than others. I dont have any pins, and my hood is fine. If you're really worried about it then get them. Theres nothing wrong with a little safety.

so why would the latch be less sturdy on the cf hood? does the hood break apart where it hooks in and let it fly up?

It less sturdy because some of the companies are cheap. They just slap it on.

Often, the latch is on a section that is simply attached to the hood with adhesive. The adhesive can give given enough force....and there's quite a bit of force created by wind resistance at "freeway speeds". It's a gamble if you don't put pins on. I've heard a good number of horror stories. Yet, I know there are plenty of people who will never have a problem. Personally, I would get pins but it's your car. Just don't take anyone else out if you go blind on the freeway.

Cedric Smiths Supra h:

Better safe than sorry. Might as well get hood locks for the added safety.
