Ok I know this has most likely been brought up a billion times, but if you had a choice of going with a B16A or B18C1 which would you choose. Now keep in mind that I am tring to find out which one would be better to build up. I would like to go NA. This will be going into a 93 Civic HB. Any suggestions would be great as well as any links to web site with dyno charts.

Now going with the NA car I would like the car to have awesome performance. I know this will cost money and on and on, but thats not the point. I just want to know what would be good mods for the engine and which engine would be better to build up.

B18 is always better than B16.

In the interest of maintaining an NA engine, the B18C would be the best option because of its inherently higher output due to its bigger displacement (1.8L > 1.6L). However, that doesn't mean that an ITR engine (I'm unsure of the the engine code) is your only option. You could always get a GSR engine (somewhat cheaper) and obtain ITR parts to maximize hp/tq but, you could always go with better aftermarket engine parts (ie. cams, intake manifold, valvetrain, etc.) which would meet/exceed ITR counterparts.

USDM ITR = B18C5 ~$4500
JDM ITR = B18C ~$3000
GSR = B18C1 ~$3500
LS = B18A/B ~$2000-$3000

jdmfaze.com has the GSR = B18C1 for $2850.99 it comes with everything needed. So I figure I would go with a GSR engine swap. I know the cam gears will be Jun spec 3. I saw a dyno for those against Toda cams and ITR cams. But unsure of the cam shafts, valve springs, and other parts.

You could use ITR cams with stock valvetrain, but spec B and spec C toda cams require new valve springs and retainers, prolly not a bad idea to get new valves too, if you're going with big gnarly NA cams.

I *hear* bad things of Osaka

Import Auto Salvage is top-notch although more expensive.

yeah, people always seem a bit iffy about Osaka... but i've never heard of any real individual cases of trouble. What have you heard? Because I'm seriously considering buying from them....
