i had a valve adjustment done the other day, (builthatch) helped me, and the car runs great once warm.. very quiet.. everything is nice and snug.. NO clatter, heres the problem.. when cold it stalls in nuetral at lights.. once warmed up its fine.. i dunno how to do it really.. i mean i have an idea.. but im NOT %100 and i feel bad askign him to look at it again... sinse he did it for free.. any ideas? help???maybe they are too tight.. maybe i need to reset the ecu??? if they were too tight would other things be messed up??

not to discount your theory, because every little bit is helping.. the car sat ALL day... for that exact reason.. it not being warm.. but here is a real odd thing.. i have been at work since 9:30 this morning, and it is like 1:30 now.. i reset the ecu and tryed to start it, ( i always have a hard time starting my car, but thats a whole othe.. r problem.. lol) and it started right up and idled right @8-900 rpms.. i know that is a LITTLE high.. but it was study... as oposed to this morning when it was idling at 2-300 rpms, which is VERY low... im confused, i KNOW we did not reset the ecu friday when we did the job, but i also can't imagine what bearing it would have on it.. its a mechanical thing not a computer controled kinda thing.. i ran it on juice sat night and it performed great if they are slightly on the tight side what harm can it do?? it is very quiet so i know nothing is physicaly hitting or rubbing or anything. i want it right.. but i am just curious as to if i can cause any actual damage by being SLIGHTLY out of spec..
thanks again for the help... i REALLY appreciate it

could be the intake valves were off quite a bit so the computer was compensating for it. now, its still trying ot do it. our ecu's take a few starts to re-learn stuff...sometimes it wont throw codes, but it can make a difference in running. i know with older FI toyotas, if your battery dies, you have to run the car and drive it for like 10 min or it will keep stalling the same way b/c its re-learning the air/fuel mix in relation to the older engine!

Sounds like it was done wrong to me too. I adjusted my girlfriends wrong one time, but it actually drove better.
I was off on the #3 exhaust valves (too much clearance).
I could hear it tapping so I went through the whole procedure again, and found that #3 exhaust had been adjusted wrong.
If they are all off, I guess your car could stall. I would try doing it again. Good Luck!
