Any help here on shocks? 00 Civic shocks on 93 Civic?
I think I asked this question years ago and I forget the answer. Can my 00 Civic Si shocks bolt right onto my 93 Civic Si chassis without any modifications?
My current shocks are leaking/going bad, and I had my shocks stored in the attic of my garage since 2002. So they had about 10,000 miles on them.
Will they bolt up? If not what is needed to get them to fit?
Thanks!
Mike

I do not know if this will help.
I have 98 JDM ITR springs and their front shocks on my 96 civic, and there was no chassis modification needed. The DC and EG chassis are said to be near-identical in terms of suspension geometry. The springs will go onto your civic's shocks, and the shocks on that Si will also likely work on your car. The only side note I have for you is that the tophat may not work, I'm not positive. Like..if you have a spring compressor, you can take the tophat and spring off the EG shock. I'm willing to bet the tophats on the EG one are similar, but you may want to use your EG tophats for the civic springs/shocks. The two bolts don't line up the same, so you will rotate it (it can be eyeballed, it is not hard.)
The front shocks/springs from the EM1 should be easy but there is an issue with the fronts. The 99 Civic Si and Type-R both had lightweight front LCAs. These lighter control arms had a wider (yes wider) lower shock bushing. Your EM1 shocks thus have a wider mouth for the EG. So...you will need to go out and get some washers to fill in the space (as its less than half an inch). Also, you'll need the bolts for the shocks from a 99-00 Civic Si, since the shock fork at the bottom is wider, so it the bolt it uses.
I'm sure I'm making this more complicated, but if you can go to autozone and rent a spring compressor (its a 50$ downpayment, but you get it back so its actually free), this IS doable, and will of course give ya a little better handling too.

Thanks for the info. not looking for better handling. Just something to get me through the winter until my sponsorship is finalized with the suspension company Don't want to spend tons if I know when spring comes that the newer coilovers will be put on the car.
