Bakeoff, fool, give him a break . I don't think that he even wants to go there with his car. Now, I could see maybe watching the mechanic do it if they didn't mind, then maybe later down the road trying it for yourself. Some people aren't in the position where they can afford to be out of a car while they fiddle with it, and not to mention if you mess something up the time to get and replace the part. But, that's just yours and my opinion, to each his own.
Nice to see another Utah person though . I need to get my service BAD. You say it was ~$400 for the whole thing right?

Then you, my friend, are the dumbest person I've ever come in contact with.
I can understand not wanting to do the work, not having the time, not having the tools, etc, but don't come onto a tech board and expect someone to give you a  for spending a bunch of cash needlessly.

and it wasnt needlessly, also i wasn't looking for a thumbsup.. i was just sharing.. and from my sharing, i helped a couple guys out and knowing what kind of prices are out there and the positives to doing it.. that is the point of this board..

Wow, don't be so pissed off about this. It's not like he spent your money. Maybe he didn't have the time, the knowledge or the facilities to do it. Maybe it's his only car and he wanted to make sure it's done right. What's the big deal?
Posts like this make others realize that maybe their car is due for the same maintenance. Weather they do it themselves or not, it helps others learn and I think thats a big part of this board, to help others learn and appreciate their car.
I've done five complete engine rebuilds in two cars, one tractor and two lawn mowers. I know quite a bit about engines and I have the patience to work on them, but I took my car in for a valve adjustment, a timing belt and CV boot replacement. Why did I do that, I could have saved $500? Yes, I could have, but I didn't want to. When I take it somewhere, I don't lay awake at night wondering if I remembered to tighten this bolt or that nut. I didn't have to take off a day of work to do it, hell, I didn't even have to get my hands dirty and the job got done correctly and in a timely manner.
That's not that bad, that's about what it costs. I'd like to see you get it done in 20 minutes. That's more like an hour job if you do it right. Plus, I would imagine they put new gaskets on the valve cover too. Most of the time when you pull the cover off, the gaskets are due to be replaced as well. It's just common practice.

60 bucks for a valve adjustment? on a d16z6??? You have got to be kidding me! Takes me about 20 minutes, and it's free.... that's plain old lame man.

So, how exactly does it "feel good" ?
Bakeoff: Thought you'd understand . Remember that one time I called you and started talking about some shit...hahah that was funny. I thought you were someone else .
