okay, here it is, the truth, a AFTERMARKET gsr short shifter will fit cuz they r built with a narrow end to connect to the linkage. on the other hand a STOCK gsr shifter will not fit a civic unless u grind the end down bout 1/4 inch or so to fit the d-series linkage, cuz the b-series linkage is more wider. after u grind it down, pull ur bearings out of ur stock civic shifter and put them bakk into the integra one. if ur confused, ask away.

bushings are useful. with my cheap ass short shifter, when i place it in gear, i can wiggle the shifter to the right and left while its in gear. bushings eliminate that extra play in the shifter mechanism and provide more accuratly defined gates for shifting.
