fire extinguisher safety

with daily driving, what are the chances that your car will catch fire, and you being able to access the trunk to take out the extinguisher to put it out?
its just me, but IMO, for my driving, getting one is a waste of $15.

Some of us spend thousands on our cars and $15 is nothing if it can save you from watching your car melt to the ground. Of course this won't happen if all you got is a cold air intake.

Ok, Old guy here has some advice. Carry a fire extinguisher, they're not illegal, and I've NEVER seen or heard of one blowing up (they're not flammable you know, just under pressure)
Just don't mount it on the A-pillar, that's rediculous unless you have a legitimate reason (running nitrous?).
Keep it in the trunk if you have to, better place is somewhere in the backseat area.
And, I had a friend who drove an older Honda, bone stock, by the time the fire truck got to it, it was burned to a crisp. Had an oh-so-small fuel leak that accumulated over time and ignited the engine compartment. The whole car was flaming as he came off the GNO Bridge. hehe.

A fire extinguisher is somewhat useless...what are you going to do if your engine catches on fire - get out of the car, get your fire extinguisher, open the hood and put out the fire? No, you'd try and get as far from the car as possible.
If you're getting a fire extinguisher just for the "damn, my 106hp DX is too dangerous to drive around in so I need one of these" effect, then fine, but otherwise its a waste of time, money, effort, and is more dangerous than not having one.
