We all gotta remeber that this is a daily driver, this isnt a stripped down 1/4 mile car. Im looking for a happy medium between the 2. Im not looking to make my car a race car really...just want to overall increase the drivability of my car. Thats why i went with adjustible coil over sleeves, cause i only really wanted to drop my car a little, and not ruin the overall ride. Most people on a budget and cant afford 400$ for Ground Control. I paid 100$ for my Arospeed coil overs and i havent had any problems with them as in spring or shock wise. I will probaly buy new shocks and struts when i turbo. But even with a turbo my torque isnt going to be high enough that i need to slam my car to keep traction. If i wanted a race car...i would of bought a used hatch and stripped it down to the skelly and drop a new motor in. This is not the case. I drive this car to work, back and forth, to and from. I need to keep this car as drivable in all conditions as possible. Rain is something that florida sees a TON of every year. SO that is a big factory in this. When i ask if i will notice a difference....i dont mean will i notice a difference in turning. I mean in overall performance. Will new shocks and struts, plus GC make my car ride better with the same amount of drop? Will it make it softer? Will it make it Stiffer? If the answer is stiffer then its not what i want.

At first i wanted really to drop the car to give it alittle better handling and yes of course looks. Even with 16" rim there is hella amount of room from the tire to the top of the wheel well. So dropping it only 3/4 of a inch was the best of both worlds.

My concern on suspension is that will it give me overall driving performance or just corning performance?

Alright, I think you're missing something here...

You want to go turbo, but stay with the suspension you have now. Your current setup will NOT give you enough traction. You're going to be ignorant and not listen to me, same as you're doing to Bumnah, but that's fine.

Your car is making power from a little box (engine) and trying to get it onto the ground (through tranny/suspension), so you don't fly off the road. Stock power is fine with stock suspension.

As you make more power, it's a LOT more force on suspension not made to handle it. You're going to have to sacrifice some ride quality in the end, sorry.

I said i will probaly get shocks and struts after i go turbo. Just right now saving the money and waiting for a friend to remove his kit. Im not saying i never will, but till my warrenty is up im trying to get little softer ride TILL i get a turbo and see. I thank you for your replys and please dont think i was flaming you in anyway. Just kinda straid from the subject at hand.

Listen to what the guy said when he said "Your car is making power from a little box (engine)". I got a 98 EX and I wouldn't do a damn thing to that little box if i wanted to race it. If your getting a Turbo or Nos then your obviously wanting to race it. Do you even use the full potential of the engines Hp/Torque now? If I were you I wouldn't even bother with the turbo and put that same money in a larger engine like a b18C1 at least if you drive it regularly and not race it you wouldn't have to buy everything else that is needed with a swap. When you start racing then you're going to want to buy the other stuff cause the Ex setup just won't handle the pressure so your going to have to change parts. At least if you drive around softly with the b18C1 you can save up for the other parts unless you want to store the engine in the garage. You can build the engine with better parts or just hold it there till you get enough money to switch out other parts on the car till you swap. after you did the swap you can turbo that engine and from that point you'll get a better experience of how the engine functions so you won't have to take it to the dealership for maintenence. You can do alot just don't turbo a cheap stock Ex engine. That's a waste of money in my idea.

Swap is to much right now. WAAAY to much. The motor alone going to cost 2k and to get it in going to be another 1k, depending on what parts i need to replace. Not to mention i lose pretty much all my bolt ons i have now. Header of course i need to lose either way.

Turbo however is a easy bolt kinda sorta, you can drop it in and run 5-7psi (which is about 7-9hp per psi). I can keep my bolt ons, minus the header of course. As long as you have the right stuff. Im buying a full Greddy kit, with FMIC, FMU, VAFC, BOV, Tial wastegate, Fuel pump, injectors, FPR. Everything i need. The person im buying it from has been running 9 psi daily. Has about 6k on the whole setup and never over did it. Total kit costing me 1500$ and 400$ for install. Suspension will follow shortly after that or clutch depending.

Nos is cheap power. Not that im going to use it every second im in my car, which is what makes it most appealing. Zex kit also is awesome for that. Works off you TPS which only shoots full throttle. So its only power once the car is pretty much already moving.

Now the question is ....im not planning on ever running my car in 1/4 mile. My car is again a daily driver. So im not going for ALL out speed. Just little pick me up. Nos will probaly come first, then turbo, then suspension and or clutch.

Also, i dunno if you saw above but my car is brand spanking new....its 2 years old yes, but i have 14k miles. Swap is not a practical upgrade.

So 1900$, installed, for 6-7psi (safe setting) will give about 7-9hp per psi.

A swap will cost me about 2k for the motor and misc parts i need. Thats not installed. For 160bhp with 111lbs of torque. If i spend that much i wont have any money left over for a new header, i think i can cut my intake to fit a B16/B18.

Why would you want a turbo in a car your not planning to race? It does nothing to help the gas milleage plus its more maintence. Why would you say your not going to race it if your putting NOS in the car since its illegal to have on the streets? Plus both the turbo and the NOS wear the engine out faster. Do you use the full potential of your current engine "d16y8" meannign do you from time to time redline it just for satisfaction or racing. If not then why the turbo or NOS?

You can buy the B18C1 engine, take it apart, learn about it but, not install it. Why do you want to rush things? Just get the engine and wait till you have some money a year from now then you can install it with the extra money for the misc parts. At least if you turbo the bigger engine you will have more potential. You don't sound like your not into racing if you even mention wanting to install NOS or a Turbo. So my guess is that your a racer comming out of the closet.

SO you saying that no one uses a turbo or NoS other then to race ....?

Then why would alot of factory cars (Audi, VW, Porshe) use turbos in cars? They not racing them outta the factory.

What im saying is simple. THE car i drive is a daily driver. Its not going to be a race car. Im looking for the medium between the 2. I dont want to stay stock, nor do i want to strip my interior and make it a 1/4 mile car. I want alittle more balls to my car. Thats it! Plain and simple. Turbo will give me that and is a BOLT ON. Bolt on being the keywords here. NoS, again would be a bolt on upgrade. It would give me as much as a b18 would. Also, being that my car is new, a engine swap is out of the question. Now if i blew my motor, and honda wont fix it. I would buy a b16/b18 and drop it in there. The point being im only considering BOLT ON upgrades. Something that i can take off and take my car, in case i have to take my car to the dealer.

PS How did everyone get by like 10 years ago. There wasnt a civic with a DOHC motor. What did they do? Everytime it seems that someone says more balls to a d16 99% of the people say swap. Say for instance you bought a 2000 Civic in Jan of 2000. You drive it for 10-15k and want more balls. Now, what would be more appealing to a person in this situation. Engine swap? No cause it will void EVERY warrenty you have. TUrbos/superchargers/nos can be easily removed. With a little work, but all 3 can be removed and you return your car to factory settings and still retain some resale value later on down the road. Are you seeing the point?
