i was looking at the ES mufflers before i got my type R. they were about $100.

If you don't like the "fart can" exhuast that you have now, you certainly would not like a universal exhuast. You would've just spent more money on a sound that you hate. Since you mentioned HKS, they do make an axle back muffler (I think that it was the Hiper) for 92-95 Civics. But I think that the cheapest price that I found for it was around four bills. Other than that, I think that you should just get a full cat back exhaust system and do it right the first time.

i have an N-1 cat back and it IMHO completely lacks that bumble bee sound... /

without spending major cash??? good luck..
