That's true. There are different grades of fibreglass. Different quality, thickness, etc.

But for the most part, fibreglass IS fibreglass, you hit something at the wrong angle and same amount of force, whatever fibreglass will not survive.

Also, some of the "Cheap Copies" might not fit as well without the body work doing some work to prep it. But then again, you have to prep fibreglass regardless. I avoided fibreglass completely because it's unavoidable to damage them here...I chose to avoid the headache and get urethane.

One of the things I'm worried about is fitment. I talked to Outxider and he says his kit fitted almost perfect.

I'd only run the front in the summer. But in the winter the sides and rear will be the only part fiberglass part on the car.

I haven't dealt with Extreme Dimensions personally, I bought my entire kit from VIS. The front was one of the best fitting I've seen for my car. The sides fit great, but the actual craftsmanship was kinda crappy. And the rear was almost a total loss. The body shop had to do some major modifications to make it fit. And all the pieces of the kit came from VIS.

But I guess that's the beauty of fiberglass. Even if the fitment isn't exactly perfect, it is easily manipulated for fitment as opposed to a urethane bumper.

What companies that make knock offs of the Bomex kit fit good?

if you take a fiberglass piece and hold it up to the light you'll see how thin the fiberglass is on most of the kits.

rule of thumb i have on fiberglass kits is, they'll break no matter how careful you are. plus most of the kits looks good when your car is really low.

honestly if you don't wanna deal with fragile fiberglass buy urethane. save yourself a headache, buy the ww lip and be happy.

only bumper close enough to bomex is the ciel aero show off front bumper. aaron used to have one on his old coupe. as for the sides and rear, dunno. i choose to get bomex cuz i really like the style and looks of it. the body shop that painted my car, ordered the kit for, took a while but it was all worth.

he even said that "man this kit fits on right out of the package more perfect then any other kit i dealt with" they didnt run into any fitment issues either. for the price of bomex the fitment is great, but fiberglass is fiberglass and i already knew what kind of trouble lies ahead of me.

cant wait to repaint and slap some 3m clear bra on. i hate rock chips. good luck ant.

late

So would a knock off of the Bomex kit not be a direct copy of it?
