ah, sometimes it doesn't "look" like it is bad, but it is starting to fail if your brake lights are failing intermitently.

you could get a jumper wire and jump the brake switch. if the brake bulbs do light up, then replace the switch.

do you have a test light or a voltmeter?
the brake switch has 2 wires, one of themwill have constant 12v and the other wire should be switching from 12v to 0v as you press or depress the brake switch.
if that wire is switching from 12v to ov, then yur problem is further back to the taillights.
i just dont have a wiring diagram so i cant pin point you to the right wire color etc.:blue:

He said he replaced the switch. Get a voltmeter, test the switch you replaced. You dont need a wiring diagram, theres only two wires at the switch like cruzalekz said.

Check your wires at the bulbs, make sure theres no rips in the insulation and that theres no oxidation in the sockets where the bulb goes. Use contact cleaner and a flathead to clean the contacts.

Also, make sure you got the correct bulbs: http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...de/default.htm
