Default How to.. remove heater/instruments trims?!

Hi there!!,
I hope this is not the 1000th time someone asks for this, but I couldn't find anything by searching the archived messages..

Problem No.1:
My black Civic has one of the bulbs under the RPM and tachometer burned out. So, at night, you can't see part of the instruments due to the lack of illumination.

Question: How do I take the black trim apart? Do you have any precise procedure to follow and (better!!) some pics to show?

Problem No.2:
My other pewter gray Civic has one of the bulbs showing the temperature controls of the heater/climate control burned out, too. Green LEDs for the air flow positions are perfect, but I think one (of the two?) bulbs under the red/blue lines died.

Question: How do I take the heater/climate control face trim apart? Do you have any precise procedure to follow and (better!!) some pics to show?

This is the pic of a dashboard like mine:

Please reply, as this is very important to me!!

TO take the black trim covering the cluster off. you have two screws in the middel,if you turn your head and look up you will see them, then you have a screw under the hadzard switch, pop the switch out with a slotted screwdriver. it hink that is all the screws. and the second question i am not sure on at all. good luck

to take out the climate control u have to disconnect it from the main unit thats behind it

it has a harness and a metal thing (the one that u move to get it hot and cold) thats hooked up to the main unit. then u take out your am radio and start unscrewing have a thin and not long screwdriver couse the screws are in uncomfortable places, u gotta be carefull not to crack anything couse that **** cracks easily....its a real pain in the ass

i did it for my friends 93 lx when he was stripping it for scca and it was a pain in the ass....my car has both lights out so i got no climate control lightning but after ****ing with his car it i'd rather not fawk with it

btw, to take off the trim u first have to take out the whole thing then u have to take it apart somewhat to get to the bulbs

Hi there!!,
thanks all of you for the suggestions..

Regarding the Haynes manual, I already got one and is not THAT precise regarding the interiors of the car. Anyway, there are some simple pictures of dashboards with parts already taken apart. Not really useful..

I've found on the net some schemes and technical drawings that could help other people with the same "bulb & take apart" problems. Hope you will like them:

Picture No.1, instruments panel garnish:

Picture No.2, instruments panel overview:

Picture No.3, tachometer assembly:

Picture No.4, dashboard swtiches:

Picture No.5, heater controls scheme:

All images are taken from Majestic Honda's webisite ( http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ ).

I will soon work on my Civics so if you got other pictures to post, please don't hesitate!!
