a lot of mechanics could probably strip a car with a set of box wrenches, but the average shade tree DIY couldn't. Follow my analogy?

I see what your saying but most people aren't going to want to spend $400+ on a spray gun unless they use it all the time. I want to get the Sharpe Platinum to use for my basecoat and clear and use my cheap gun for all the different types of primer. The Sharpe is around $350 and I've heard its badass.

not ghetto...I'm painting my hatchcrap laser red this winter. My dad has a 50 foot roll of clear plastic that I'm going to put around the car in the garage and hook up 3 fans to suck all the dust out. We also have 4 heaters in the garage to make sure it's nice and toasty. Of course, I'll be sanding it over and over and over to make sure it turns out ok. If it wasn't a hatchcrap, I would probably get it done professionally.

Are you referring to the side skirts/rocker panels? I paint those off the car. They only take 5 minutes to pull both of them off. Depends on what car you are painting and how tall you are. I'm 6'0 and am usually able to paint the roofs w/o a ladder.
What are you talking about? Where can I pick up one of these b/c I just put tarp up on my walls and I still get a lot dirt in my clear. One time after I sprayed my second coat of clear a huge bug landed on it I picked it out with a tooth pick and wet sanded and buffs it out.

I haven't had to paint the underside of a car yet but I would jack it up if I had to.
What do you use for the walls? I'm trying to find a cheap effective way of spraying in my garage with adequate circulation and little dirt. I have a 36'' fan and I've thought about buying some PVC pipe, making a frame and covering the walls with tarp or something similar. I could probably get all the supplies for around $100. Any ideas on a homemade paint booth? What have you done in the past?
