clutch is to the floor. help
sup people. i need help with troubleshooting my clutch problem. it seems that there is no resistence when i press on the clutch- it just goes straight the floor. i noticed leaks underneath the car too. could i possibly need a slave cylinder, or master cylinder? what type of fluids should i buy and how much of it?

it should say on the cap but it uses DOT 3 brake fluid. figure out where the leak is coming from. if it's near the firewall then it might be the clutch master cylinder. if it's near the front passengers side of the engine that's the slave cylinder. it could also be a bad spot in the line, there is a piece of flexible line to the slave. if it's coming out that fast then it should be easy to spot. make sure you clean the fluid off paint because it will damage it.

a mechanic buddy of mine inspected it for leaks but found none at any of the respective places.(under dash or near header, or firewall) this might sound silly, but where did it all go then? we simply added more fluid and bled the lines. its working fine for the moment. will i need a new clutch perhaps?

First of all fluid does not dissappear... It could also be leaking into the transmission bell housing.I had a problem on my CRX similar to this. It ended up being that the throw out bearing and arm were too worn. How many miles? Pull the slave and make sure it is good. It should be quite obvious if it is leaking at the Clutch master either on the firewall or by the clutch pedal where the rod goes through the firewall. Have a buddy just continously pump the clutch and then let us know where the fluid is coming from.
edit: Line7 are you even a mechanic? Don't give out information that you are not sure about. If you run the Clutch slave completely DRY then you should replace both, but not because of "contamination" No fluid = friction on the rubber seals inside the clutch master and slave.

well, im back on the road again with no apparent leaks. it leaves me quite concerned though. im going to check my fluid often and if it drops at a considerable amount, hopefully i'll be able to see any visible leaks. thanks everybody.
