When you go with bigger wheels, you need to get tires that still have the same diameter, so that means that the sidewall has to be smaller. Smaller sidewall means less "cushion" between the wheel and the road.
I say go 15s with a 205-50 tire. The ride is smooth and not so harsh and the wheels are a lot lighter. Anything higher than 16 hurts performance and fuel mileage.

those actually look really good. in my mind i had 15s looking ugly or something. lol. alright....now i got to go find some rims in 15s. thanks!
I have a 94 civic with 17s and low pro tires. My car is also lowered 1.7 inch drop and it only rubs when you hit a good size bump or dip but other than that its fine.

I never rubbed once and I was lowered 2 inches in front and 1.8 out back.
